You can soon contribute to democratising the Internet by supporting one of our funds:

(Our banking details and an on-line payment facility will be added to this page shortly. )

South Africa has amongst the highest mobile data fees in the world – and the marginalised majority are primarily depended on mobile date to get online. Support activists to overcome the inequality in our organisations by contributing to their participation costs.

The cost of equipment – servers, routers, etc –  is a massive barrier to entry for working class organisations wanting to  develop their communication infrastructure. The Tool Fund covers the cost of securing much needed hardware.

Corporations like Facebook and Google have created walled gardens where you must pay to reach audiences of any meaningful size and diversity.  The Action Fund covers the costs of on-line campaigning, enabling progressive organisations to pay for advertising and ensure their messages reach the intended audiences. (we don’t like it, but comrades need support to move beyond ‘speaking to the already converted’)

We’re playing the long game and plan for Yetu’s growth as a stable institution expanding our impact for many years to come. A contribution to the Future Fund protects us in times of crisis and gives us the flexibility to take on challenges that may not get immediate support from our partners or users who often prioritise their short term needs. This is an investment in winning the battles ahead and, ultimately, realising the world we want.
