Towards a user/worker cooperative

We are building the Yetu Infotech Collective as a stable and sustainable institution with the resources and capacity to support the growth of the socio-economic justice sector for many years to come.

Yetu is registered as a non-profit company (NPC #K2022295652, NPO 286-001) democratically owned and controlled by its workers & users. Our Governance Council is made up of:

    1. Representatives of member organisations using our services (including Community Networks);

    1. Representatives of the permanent workers;

    1. Representatives of our Associate Group (comrades with specialist skills and expertise offering ongoing advice and undertaking occasional work.

The Council meets at least twice a year to review strategy and elect a Board that will provide operational oversight.

We are in the process of recruiting members. If you want to join our journey please contact us.

The size of the permanent worker & associate teams – and hence the scale of operations and speed of rollout – will be determined by available resources and strategic priorities. We envisage multiple income streams including donor funds, public donations, and fees for various services/trainings and the retail of data.

See our Memorandum of Incorporation.
